Job Title: Graphic Designer

Location: Dublin, OH, 43017 - Remote to start, will eventually need to be able to report onsite at Dublin, OH

Duration: 12 Months contract

Job Description:

  • This role is primarily responsible for conceptualization, design execution and production of labeling artwork on Company's product packaging while supporting of Company's brand and identity system.
  • This designer must have a full understanding of design tools/software, commercial and digital print production (specifically regarding packaging), and design principles and processes. This role requires a great attention to detail and the ability to take creative direction from a Lead Designer to move forward with projects. Able to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks and and work with general guidance. Able to provide design solutions based on the parameters set forth by the client and/or Lead Designer.
  • Understanding of printing processes, how to properly prepare files for print, and reviewing printer proofs accurately is required. This designer should have strong organizational skills in terms of project management, and design process is key. Experience within a regulated medical industry preferred. Experience with quality inspection preferred.
  • This designer should be able to manage multiple design projects of various volumes and in different phases of production.

Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:

25% of time - Creative process:

  • Brainstorming, concepting, layout, production and presentation.
  • Understand outcomes of project, audience, schedule, necessary resources.
  • Recommend alternative design ideas for communications when needed.

75% of time - Production process:

  • Implementation of initial layouts and concepts as discussed with Strategic designer.
  • Design execution of "pick-up" or template driven work.
  • Client revisions/editing.
  • Scans/photo retouch.
  • Project archiving.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

  • Creative exploration: ability to concept quickly and accurately to plan specifications.
  • Problem solver: ability to solve problems creatively, quickly and strategically.
  • Attention to detail, general organization and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of the Cardinal Health visual identity system and how it applies to their designs.
  • Knowledge of photo library and assets.
  • Focus: while paying attention to detail also having the ability to still focus on the big picture and meeting and exceeding team/personal goals.
  • Understanding of commercial and digital printing.
  • Visual strategy (typography and photography); and Color strategy (color selection).
  • Familiarity with design software in Mac environment (specifically the Adobe Design Suite).

Education:

  • University education. A bachelor of fine arts (BFA) degree is preferred (Communications Arts or Graphic Design major is essential.)
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a graphic design position specifically designing packaging
