Sr. Test Technician, 2nd Shift

Please Note: This is a 2nd shift position. Work schedule: 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Potential weekend shift.

Our location in Irving, TX, currently has an opportunity for Sr. Test Technician, 2nd Shift


As a subject matter expert, the Lead Test Technician performs electromechanical tests per established procedures and completes complex troubleshooting while maintaining production schedule. This position will also support a team of up to 3 technicians operating within a work cell to assist with questions related to test procedures, process and reviewing documentation.  The Lead test technician will be responsible for daily progress reports on instruments and training all new personnel within the test technician area. It is expected this position will partner with engineering in developing methods and procedures to control or modify manufacturing processes. Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), cGMPs and Quality Standards are mandatory.


  • Conducts a variety of complex tests, measures devices, and calculates data to verify adherence to ensure the instrument functions within provided specifications.

  • Uses machinery, equipment, test aids, and a variety of mechanical and electrical tools to perform tests

  • Coach and mentor operators, technicians and other peers on enhancing their technical capabilities and increasing productivity. Participates in functional as well as technical discussions with the team.

  • Performs scheduled calibration of test stations and equipment to ensure proper functionality

  • Prepares and submits status reports for minimizing exposure and risks on the project or closure of escalations. Uses statistical analysis to determine appropriate actions.

  • Leads and implements quality and compliance changes in process and continuous improvement projects. May work directly with management to resolve reoccurring problems

  • Attends and actively participates in audit walkthroughs, 7s, kaizen events or any other operations, lean six-sigma, quality, safety or environmental training/initiatives, as required.

  • Expected to be knowledgeable about the assembly of component parts, sub-assemblies or completed units, including electronic, electro-mechanical, mechanical and structural assembly for products and instruments.

  • Exhibit strong leadership skills and promote a positive work environment to enhance production.

  • Serves on safety, quality and other committees, if applicable.

  • Identifies and addresses compliance, environmental, safety, and process deviations as appropriate while notifying appropriate personnel.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalency is required

  • 2 or more years’ experience with electromechanical assemblies/electronic manufacturing, technical certifications, etc. preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of six sigma tools and processes preferred and/or Yellow Belt certification preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal format

  • Organized, self-motivated and focused with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines

  • Demonstrates root-cause problem solving to identify and perform troubleshooting

  • Performs complex assignments usually without established procedures. Assignments require considerable judgment, initiative, creativity and leadership in troubleshooting, suggesting alternatives, and making recommendations for continuous quality improvement.

  • Strong Technical writing skills required to aid in documentation review and completion

  • Proficient with Microsoft office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Excellent soft skills i.e. communication, organization, teamwork, interpersonal, work ethic, time management, adaptability, etc.

  • Working knowledge of IPC standards and use of complex tools and equipment specific to functional areas

  • Ability to handle and lift up to 25lbs as needed for specific job functions

  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time

  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach within hands and arm’s length, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
