Patient Companion PRN

Watertown Regional Medical Center will be hiring several Patient Companion (PC) into PRN status positions.  The patient Companion provides direct patient observation and input in planning care through communication with the RN and other patient care team members.  PC is effectively involved with maintaining the standard of care for assigned patients through communication with the care team. Responds to change with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn new ways to accomplish work activities and objectives. Maintains competency and possesses the skills to provide a safe environment to those patients requiring close supervision because of behavioral health issues. Completes duties as assigned and performs duties under the direct supervision of the RN.

On-call. PRN status.  Shifts may vary and include some night shifts and weekend shifts.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED.

Required to attend Handle with Care training (in-house training provided after hire date).

 Competencies:
• Clear communication, listening and observation skills
• Ability to respond swiftly - physically able to sit, stand, and bend at a moment's notice
• Calm confident manner and able to remain calm during moments of escalation or high stress
• Maintain composure with distressed or combative patient
• Positive demeanor and attitude
