Technical Trainer, Systems Operations & Maintenance

  • Develop and teach courseware for a chemical demilitarization facility with a focus on static detonation chamber operations and maintenance,
  • Confer with operations, maintenance, safety, environmental, medical, and other project supervision to gain knowledge of work situation and utilize the JTA to determine the required training objectives for employees,
  • Translate regulatory and procedural requirements into course content
  • Use the Instructional Systems Development (ISD) process for the development of all training materials,
  • Design and develop exams to measure participant comprehension of the training materials,
  • Maintain and update training materials as required,
  • Conduct training in support of the training schedule,
  • Act as course owner and subject matter expert to communicate closely with operations, maintenance, security, environmental, safety, medical and other project supervision to ensure that the training program meets all regulatory and project requirements,
  • Provide other training support activities as assigned by the Training Manager.
  • Must be able to pass background checks and drug screening requirements for entry to a controlled US Government facility
  • Must be eligible for entry into the US Army's Unescorted Access Program (UAP) for chemical agents
  • Must be able to pass medical screening requirements for use of a military M40 mask for escape purposes.

  • Job Requirements:
  • Proven presentation and public speaking skills and experience. Ability to apply a variety of learning concepts and principles directed towards adults.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills. Self-starter. Able to multi-task and prioritize. Team player. Effective problem solver.
  • Training experience in a highly-regulated industry (e.g. commercial, Navy, or DOE nuclear; chemical; pharmaceutical; refinery; chemical demilitarization; etc.)
  • Experience in control room and outside plant operations and electrical and mechanical maintenance
  • Thorough understanding of plant mechanical, electrical, and I&C concepts.
  • Understanding of thermal and chemical processes related to the demilitarization of energetics (explosives) and chemical agents
  • Understanding of industrial automated control systems, programable logic controllers, and user interfaces
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA 1910/1926 regulations and their application
  • HAZWOPER and HAZMAT training experience a plus
