Manufacturing Engineering Technician

REPORTS TO: Manufacturing Engineering , or Plant Manager

RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:
Responsible for supporting the current manufacturing and facilitating the continuous improvement processes associated with the manufacturing methods and processes in the plant facility. Also develops solutions for production problems related to materials, processes, and tooling. Supports new products and programs by developing new processes, designing tooling and machinery, and developing production controls. Accountable for applying sound economic methods to equipment and space utilization to meet design and quality criteria with the lowest expense and consistent with the facilities financial and non-financial objectives.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. Reviews specifications and bid proposals and cost estimate requests to establish the feasibility of accepting orders. Determines manufacturability, investment requirements, product cost, and delivery schedules.
2. Develops processes, methods, tooling, and production controls for new products and programs; oversees their assembly and proofing.
3. Supports production to resolve any manufacturing issues.
4. Coordinates new product development and cost reduction activities.
5. Maintains, operates, and troubleshoots manufacturing support software.
6. Plans, supervises and executes work measurement, and defines operations and operation balance to TAKT time.
7. Plans, justifies and implements facility changes to produce the forecasted volume of product economically.
8. Participates in and leads Kaizen events.
9. Be aware of and help maintain all environmental, health and safety factors in the plant.

REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires an associated Degree in Engineering with one (1) to two (2) years of progressive, hands on manufacturing engineering experience. This position also requires knowledge of formal problem solving methods along with maintenance background. Experience with new products and process introductions along with a working knowledge of lean manufacturing practices and procedures is also recommended. In the absence of an associated degree in engineering, a minimum of six (3) years' experience is required, might be compensated with exposure to manufacturing, and/or mechanically inclined, MS Office capable CAD and/or 3D: added plus, procurement exposure, or 3D CAD
