About the Role


The primary function of the Bekum Operator is to safely keep the Bekum shuttles operating in a productive, efficient, and effective manner. This requires producing quality products with minimal scrap and downtime.  

Accountabilities and Responsibilities: 

  • Must respect Amcor Rigid Packaging’s primary focus, that is to ensure the Safety of all employees.
  • Start up and shut down molding equipment in a safe manner. Make mechanical and system adjustments to machines to correct quality issues in the bottles and process out defects.
  • Effectively run a cell of 4 Bekum extrusion shuttle machines, including a crew of 5 packers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on the machines including cleaning, inspecting, and lubricating machine and equipment.
  • Perform root cause analysis to determine true cause of machine issues prior to fixing them.
  • Must be willing and able to document all adjustments and changes to machinery.
  • Perform quality checks on bottles per policy, documenting any and all issues in the quality system.
  • Complete mold and tooling changes.
  • Regularly evaluate the Standard Operation Procedures and recommend improvement opportunities.
  • Be attentive to inconsistencies, inefficiencies, and processes in need of improvement. 
  • Attendance in a manufacturing plant is an essential function of this job.
