Electrical/Computer/Signal Processing Engineer


Non-Contact Technologies, LLC (NCT) is a small, growing company producing high speed data acquisition hardware and software for specialized measurements on gas turbine engines and other rotating machinery. Located in Tullahoma, TN, NCT is looking for an Electrical/Computer/Signal Processing Engineer for design and support of our data acquisition modules and other products.


Position Description


The position consists of overseeing all technical aspects of NCT’s products (instrumentation, data acquisition and related modules, probes, installation) and consulting activities. The products contain a wide spectrum of electronics from FPGAs and microcontrollers to optical detectors and high-speed amplifiers. Included in this job is support for installation and operation as well as proper documentation of NCT’s products. It also includes oversight of assembly, testing, and installation of NCT products. This position will also include becoming familiar with the operation of NCT products for field support. Travel will be required, with a maximum of two weeks per trip (company policy).

Job Requirements:

Main Duties & Responsibilities


- Designing, inspecting, testing, and updating electronic systems, components, equipment, and software within the NCT product line.


o Improve and maintain existing product hardware


  • Maintain and develop new FPGA design, microcontroller firmware, and software
  • Maintain and develop electronic designs (schematics, Printed Circuit Board layout)

o Instrumentation validation of NCT Products


  • i.e., Tip Timing System, Optical Probes, Sensors
  • Custom designs and consulting efforts

o Review and suggest improvements to current Systems.


o Assist in creating new product lines for NCT.


- Oversight of assembly, testing, and installation of NCT products


o Validation of design
o Quality Checks
o Review for improved or new fabrication methods


- Installation and Operation of NCT products
o Become familiar with Tip Timing Data Acquisition and support field tests (would require travel inside and outside US)


o Collecting customer requirements and incorporating into NCT proposals


- Observing existing processes and making recommendations for improvement.


- Showing initiative and keeping up with advancements in Electronics


o Look for opportunities to grow professionally


- Establish professional relationships with customers, vendors, suppliers, and other professionals in the field.


o Represent the company at conferences and delivering presentations if required.


- Other duties and tasks as required.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



- Knowledge and understanding of engineering standards and practices


- Knowledge of instrumentation systems and sensor systems


- Experience in FGPA (Intel Quartus) and microcontroller/PC programming (preferably C or C++)


- Ability to perform electronic circuit schematic entry and PCB layout using software such as Altium Designer


- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and assembly drawings and diagrams


- Ability to plan and organize assembly and test operations


- Ability to perform design and analysis using CAD tools such as Inventor


- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions


- Must have good attention to detail


- Ability to communicate orally and in writing


- Work independently with little or no supervision


- Ability to maintain effective working relationship with others


- Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment


- Ability to lift/carry a short distance at least 35 pounds


- Must be dependable and able to work regular 40-hour work week plus occasional overtime as required


- Must maintain personal and professional integrity, being honest and ethical



Qualifications



- Minimum education: BS from an accredited university, preferably in Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering instrumentation, measurement systems, and signal processing
- Willing to accept assignments in widely varying complexity
- Must be able to demonstrate manual dexterity and ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation


- Must be a U.S. Citizen
