Finance Clerk

Do you love numbers? Our client in Glen Carbon is looking for a Finance Clerk.

  • Compiles/enters data and processes payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
    • Reviews payroll information prior to processing
    • Updates payroll and deduction information for employees when changes occur
    • Calculates time off accruals and enters information as necessary
    • Obtains/processes necessary payroll information and records related to employees.
    • Prepares reports and processes payments to government entities and benefit vendors
    • Audits department timecards at random to ensure accuracy and compliance with FLSA
    • Maintains payroll records
    • Prepares periodic reports using payroll system
  • Administers various employee benefit programs such as medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, flexible spending account plan, pensions, 457(b) retirement savings plan, and tuition reimbursement.
  • Observes policies, rules and regulations for transacting financial matters; performs duties in observance of generally accepted accounting procedures; helps to maintain proper internal control systems
  • Assists in the preparation for the annual audit; complies with independent auditor requests by gathering all necessary documents and reports
  • Assists the Director of Finance in the preparation of the annual budget

Job Requirements:


  • Associate Degree; or any equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 3 years or more experience in Municipal Government or related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal and mathematical skills
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and highly organized
  • Fund accounting experience is highly desirable
  • Experience with Tyler Technologies (Incode) software is a plus
