Quality Assurance Technician

Summary:

This is an entry level QA Technician position, which reports directly to the shift QA Supervisor. The critical technical functions of the position are to perform routine QA/C and other relevant departmental functions as assigned by the QA Management.

Job Requirements:
  • Perform routine food safety and quality assurance functions as assigned by QA Management which include but are not limited to the following:
  • Verification audits for Food safety & pre-requisite programs
  • Process QC
  • Laboratory QA/C tests for raw materials and finished products, which include Moisture, pH/TTA, Brix, Colors, Texture, Sensory, etc.
  • Product sensory evaluation
  • Quality hold and investigation
  • Assist the SQF Practitioner to verify SQF certification compliance and to prepare for certification audit, which include registries audit, food security evaluation, SQF training, etc.
  • Assist to investigate food safety and quality issues.
  • Report issues/non-conformances and investigation results to the QA and Ops Management in a concise and timely manner.
  • Participate in departmental and cross-functional continuous improvement projects as assigned .
  • Train QA and Ops personnel on food safety and quality programs as required by the QA Management.
  • Perform other relevant duties.
Skills/Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1- 2 year of QA/C experience in food manufacturing or related fields is preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; bilingual in English / Spanish is preferred.
  • Able to work in team based and fast paced work environment.
  • Possess independent and critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills: MS Excel / Word / Outlook.
  • Willing and be able to work flexible schedule.

Physical demands

While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, etc. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles from flour. Regular exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, cold, and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
