Stationary Diesel Engine Operator/Mechanic

Operates, maintains and overhauls stationary diesel engines, large pumps and ancillary machinery and equipment at a pumping station. Performs preventative maintenance of diesel engines, main pumps, generators, compressors, raw water intakes, and trash rakes. Detects, diagnoses, repairs and reports machinery and equipment malfunctions.

Employment Guidelines

High School Diploma or GED and 2+ years of experience in the operation and maintenance of diesel engines. Valid State of FL Class B CDL without restriction to operate vehicles equipped with a manual transmission and air brakes. If selected candidate does not currently possess a Class B CDL, a CDL Learner’s permit will be required prior to start date. District will provide 3 months from date of hire to obtain CDL. Also, District willing to pay costs for CDL training school. Position will be subject to random drug/alcohol screenings. Ability to obtain certifications in Rigging, Forklift Operations, CPR and First Aid.
