Sr. Data Architect


Self Esteem Brands is growing our data team and embarking on a multiyear data transformation, redefining how we unlock data, within and across our portfolio of brands to drive our franchising and customer experience.

You will have a strong focus on data modeling/architecture/governance, understanding Self Esteem Brands data and building our data platform for domestic and international usage. Short term objectives will be the implementation of solutions to quickly connect data sources via batch/real-time processes in order to deliver data quality, reporting and business intelligence goals. Longer term will be to improve the availability of organization data and strengthen our data management platform capabilities.

The strategic aspect of the role is to contribute to and influence our data governance and data integrity initiatives across all brands domestic and international.

What will you primarily be doing?

  • Create and implement a vision for a Modern Data Architecture including the centralization of multinational datasets for analytics and reporting consumption.
  • Partner with data stewards to define business requirements and design data and analytics solutions that will address their needs.
  • Display a strong engineering curiosity while identifying areas of opportunities to build out new tool sets related to data engineering/analytics.
  • Lead onshore and offshore resources to design, implement and support end to end data warehouse, data mart/lake, ELT/ETL development that provide structured and timely access to large datasets.
  • Partner with our Cloud and Platform teams to implement data engineering and data infrastructure needs.
  • Lead the team to deliver reporting & dashboard capabilities to business partners based on defined/governed metrics.
  • Provide feedback to product teams surrounding data-related technical issues and support.
  • Contribute and improve upon data dictionaries/glossaries.
  • Actively participate in code reviews providing constructive feedback to peers.
  • Partner with internal and external Data Science resources to provide scalable analytics solutions.

How to stand out?

  • Ability to speak both traditional data warehouse and modern data architecture principles relating to event driven architecture and real-time data consumption.
  • Hands on experience across the end to end data stack covering data store/warehouse design, BI, reporting, dashboard development, preferably in a customer/lead centric industry.
  • Exposure to NoSql and columnstore products along with traditional data stores and the ability to communicate/understand when to apply the appropriate technology.
  • Proficiency in interreacting with multi-shore teams in a technical leadership/guidance capacity.
  • Experience in building scalable batch/real-time end-to-end data ingestion and consumption solutions.
  • Understanding of the strengths of cloud-based solution stack (Azure preferred) in the development of data solutions.
  • Apply agile methodologies and iterative development to data warehouse/processing solutions.
  • Experience with data governance, domestics/international compliance, sovereignty principals such as GDPR and CCPA.
  • Experience with machine learning/AI tool sets and concepts and when they can/should be applied.
  • Deep understanding of metadata and master data management tools and concepts and their application in an complex business/technical environment.

Other Responsibilities And Qualifications

  • 7+ recent years' experience in data modeling, design, data integration/engineering, data quality, data security, metadata management.
  • Experience with industry standard reporting/data consumption tools (Power BI, Domo, Tableau).
  • Experience working with and leading cross-functional along with international teams.
  • Familiarity with git, CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks etc.
