Location/Division Specific Information

The Resin Qualification Technician is a great teammate in the Operations department at the Sunnyvale, California site. The department is part of the Ion Chromatography and Sample Preparation business unit that supports several other business units within the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry division.

How will you make an impact?

We, the Resin Manufacturing Team, in Sunnyvale, CA is responsible for producing many of the resins that are key to the success of Thermo Fisher’s Ion Chromatography portfolio. We are seeking an individual with strong communication, technical, and operational skills to join our multifaceted and fast paced manufacturing team. This position will provide direct labor and the candidate will follow SOPs and work in compliance with safety, regulatory and quality guidelines.

Job Description

This job entails that you follow all EH&S safety requirements, participate in safety improvement activities, and adhere to ISO9001 guidelines and corporate quality policy. Reporting problems and proposing countermeasures as well as proactively identifying improvements are important to this role. Finally, you will be encouraged to communicate optimally with other production staff and interact proficiently in cross-functional teams.

Technical Skills

We are looking for someone to execute on assigned testing and qualifying of resin products on specialized instruments to meet customer demand. In addition, to complete complex production work-orders. We would like the chemist to assist in assessing accuracy, trends, and interpretation of testing data.

How will you get here?

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent related field of study
  • 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • Direct experience with chromatography (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Possess techniques and skills vital to be able to perform routine, in-process testing of polymer chemistry
  • Familiarity working with standard software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
