Summary The Purchasing Associate is responsible for the ordering of raw materials, products, or services, and the

follow through with vendors on shipment and delivery. Will work closely with the Purchasing Lead and offer

support in Purchasing, Planning, and Inventory Control.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Generate and receive Purchase Orders within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files, reports and price lists
  • Communicate with vendors to order products and services
  • Evaluate method of purchase such as Standard Purchase, Blanket Order, or Just In Time
  • Assist in reconciling purchases by verifying accuracy of financial data and handling claims with vendors
  • Perform Goods Receipt of orders upon delivery and matches/records documentation to physical receipts
  • Analyze weekly inventory report and interpret what products/ingredients are needed
  • Assist with planning and forecasting of raw materials
  • Generate reports as needed to support Purchasing and Planning of Direct and Indirect Materials
  • Assists with Inventory Control to maintain accuracy of data

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or GED and 1-3 years' experience in purchasing, supply chain, accounting, inventory control

or related field

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure

manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers

or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area,

circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited

standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software;

Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Other Qualifications

  • MS Office (efficient with MS Excel and Outlook)
  • Experience in manufacturing industry preferred, but not required
  • Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software preferred
  • Understanding of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) preferred
