Cybersecurity Engineer


This position is fully remote


The Cybersecurity Engineer will have a strong passion and understanding of cybersecurity methodologies. The Cybersecurity Engineer should have an analytical thought process, who can investigate and provide remediation actions for all thing's security. The candidate will work as part of a team managing and responding to solutions implemented within customer environments. The Cybersecurity Engineer may also work on internal cybersecurity initiatives supporting the Magna5 environment.


The Cybersecurity Engineer will work closely with the other staff members within the Cybersecurity department with responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Respond, implement, and manage the following solutions delivered to our customers:
    • Managed Detection & Response (SIEM, IDS, Threat Intelligence)
    • Endpoint Security
    • Cloud Security (Azure, Microsoft365, AWS)
    • Vulnerability Assessments
    • Security Awareness Training
    • Phishing Campaigns
    • Firewall and Intrusion Prevention Monitoring
  • Provide incident response and event analysis assisting our 24x7 Security Operation Center
  • Assist with internal compliance deadlines and requirements
  • Ensure customer data and infrastructures are protected by enabling the appropriate security controls
  • Participate in change management processes
  • Test and identify network/system vulnerabilities
  • Assist with hardening standards and test against them
  • Handle daily/weekly administrative tasks and reporting
  • Communication effectively with customers and team members
. Requirements:


College Degree in Cybersecurity, IT Administration or Network Security. 2+ years of relevant and significant industry experience may provide as a substitute for the education requirement. Minimum certification of Security+ or equivalent desired or obtained within first six months of employment.


Minimum of 3 years of experience.

1 year of work experience in a Security Operations Center or as part of an incident response team (desired)

  • Endpoint Security
  • Network Security hardening
  • Vulnerability Management
  • Risk Management

Experience with the following technologies

  • IP, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory and Windows Event Logs
  • VPN – IPSEC and SSL
  • Next-Gen Firewall, IPS and IDS
  • Cloud Security such as Azure or Office365

  • Ability to participate and respond in a rotating on-call escalation schedule, supporting non-business hour shifts
  • Positive, proactive, can-do attitude with the ability to work alone as an individual contributor, as a technical lead when required, and as a participant in a team environment
  • Basic proficiency in Python, PowerShell and Linux commands
  • Excellent awareness of cybersecurity trends
  • Understanding of cyber-attack methods such as exploit kits, phishing, SQLi


The Cybersecurity Engineer may need to travel based on company's need.
