RN, Registered Nurse- NST & Biophysical Scoring- Outpatient Perinatal Navigator



This position requires the professional nurse to perform fetal non-stress testing and biophysical scoring on an outpatient basis; with the knowledge and abilty to read, report, and document findings to the appropriate physician. The RN will assist in Labor and Delivery as needed.


  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required. Masters preferred. Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience related to high-risk obstetrical care. Certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB) and /or Certified-Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM). 
  • Five to ten years Labor and Delivery experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Certified in basic fetal monitoring; advanced preferred
  • Demonstrates high personal and professional commitments. 
  • Certified in ultrasound biophysical scoring
  • Must successfully complete a Limited OB Ultrasound Training Course within 3 months of start date.
  • Five to ten years concurrent Labor and Delivery experience
  • Ability to scrub and circulate caesarean sections
  • Maintain current state licensure
  • Provide evidence of fetal monitoring certification
  • Provide evidence of Ultrasound biophysical scoring
  • Expected to work independently yet recognize accountability to the department and organization
  • Establish and support obstetrical patient pathways to optimize patient care through clinical activities and data analysis based on appropriate criteria and standard of care. 
  • Responsible for identifying at risk maternal patients and collaborating with providers to coordinate appropriate plan of care for the patients’ obstetrical course, including labor and delivery and postpartum. 
  • Serves as a liaison for the patient, family, and provider to assist in communication and coordination of care. 
  • Responsible for measuring, analyzing and synthesizing quality data to maximize optimum outcomes in clinical decision-making and strategic initiatives/process improvement. 
  • Other related duties as assigned for the needs of the CSM maternal program.
