Our Services for People with Disabilities team is searching for dedicated, compassionate hourly full-time and/or part-time (24-29 hours/week) Direct Support Professionals in the Marshalltown area. Will primarily provide services to Marshall County and very rarely in Tama County (Tama/Toledo). The Iowans we serve are seeking a life of greater confidence and independence, and it's our privilege to empower them toward success every day.

Offers a flexible schedule! A schedule you are able to create with your caseload and around family's needs. Current needs are mainly having availability in the afternoon/evening hours (between 2:00pm-7:00pm), but there are some morning hours (9:00am-2:00pm) available as well. Mental health related background in recommended but not required. English/Spanish speaking is a plus, but not required. This position does have potential to grow in hours as caseloads build and increase if desired.

Duties

An hourly Direct Support Professional (DSP) works with adults and children with intellectual disabilities or chronic mental illness. During a regular shift, our hourly DSPs meet with multiple individuals one at a time, spending two to four hours with each of them. DSPs are there to provide support, assistance, and instruction in learning independent living skills like:

* Money management
* Socialization
* Cooking
* Personal hygiene

Qualifications

Qualified candidates for this job will have either a high school diploma or a GED. Experience working with Supported Community Living or with people with disabilities or mental health is preferred, but not required.

This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record, and the ability to pass an extensive background check, including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, the Sex Offender registry, and the criminal history check.
