Hardware Engineering Section Manager-Ability to be cleared

We are seeking a Hardware Engineering Section Manager to support program area responsibilities for the Advanced Mission Systems Hardware Engineering Section. The effective candidate will be an active participant in the ACT (Advanced Concepts and Technologies) hardware engineering team. This position entails being a section level leader to a multi-disciplinary hardware group as well as an team member contributor on programs. The program work will center on high speed computing clusters and hardware integration to various sensors and larger level systems.

This effort will require the selected candidate to:
•Perform functional management tasks for a team of up to 15 engineers as well as be regularly engaged in the technical and engineering programmatic aspects of programs within AMS (Advanced Mission Systems) products. The Section Manager’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the work performed by those in the section is on schedule, on budget, and right the first time. Engineering leadership tasks include but not are not limited to such activities as ensuring adequate resources (personnel and assets) are made available to programs, providing technical guidance, developing career paths, facilitating alignment with engineering command media, guiding productivity improvement and risk mitigation.
•The Section Manager will interact frequently with Team Leads, Chief Engineers and Program Managers to ensure that the section is meeting the needs of its internal and external customers.
•Collaborate with engineers from other disciplines, such as Systems, and Software Engineering, to obtain pertinent information required to accomplish tasks. Ensure consistent application of engineering best practices and activity undertaken are conducted to common standards in accordance with outlined processes.
•Three quarters of the Section Manager's time will be committed to direct work on programs in roles such as Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL), team lead, team member technical contributor, technical reviewer, etc. including the following:?Participate in the full system lifecycle development including requirements analysis, design, implementation and testing, hardware integration and test, system level integration, and performing requirements analysis/definition to ensure the system will meet all customer requirements
?Participate in hardware artifacts review
?Participate in customer and/or program technical review presentations, and provide task progress and solution status updates

Clearance Requirements:
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance. US citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Skills:
•10+ years of experience in engineering development or equivalent experience
•Technical leadership experience managing geographically and technically diverse teams including working with Program office and Customer teams throughout the entire hardware life cycle
•Provide cost estimates for proposal activities
•Evaluate performance of section members and ensure on-time completion of required and suggested training
•Facilitate career development of team members, and conduct meaningful performance development discussions
•Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and oral form
•Applicants must have the ability to guide their own workload and have meaningful resolution analysis skills
•Ability to work occasional overtime to support critical program events
•Willing to travel
Salary Range
$68,000.00 - 122,000.00
