For 75 years Rice Lake Weighing Systems has been a successful, growth-oriented company known as a leader in the weighing industry and our community. We are currently seeking a Robot Technician to join our energetic and skilled Truck Scale department in our Jasper, AL location.

At RLWS, our employees manufacture the toughest scales in the industry. The Robot Technician will work closely with Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineers, Sr. Robotic Technician and others. The Robot Technician will provide support to all robotic work cells in all RLWS facilities. Including trouble shooting of errors, assisting maintenance personnel during routine maintenance, implementing new programs and providing training to robotic operators. The Robot Technician will act as a liaison between robotic welding operators and the Robotics Manager. This individual will also perform production welding when not actively working on programs or support. All RLWS employees are expected to work in a manner in which quality of work and safety are top priorities. This is achieved by following safety procedures and work instructions, as well as keeping the work area clean and organized. This individual will also perform production welding when not actively working on programs or support. Other functions as assigned.

This is a Regular Full-Time position that will work Monday - Friday with the core hours of 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, with overtime as needed.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Two to three years cutting and welding operations on structural steel experience

  • Completion of Robotic welding programming basic course through Lincoln Electric, Genesis Systems Group or other accredited location

  • Working knowledge of the practices, materials, methods, and tools of the welding trade

  • Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precaution of the trade, and of the properties of ferrous and non-ferrous metals


  • Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

  • Good hand eye coordination and dexterity

  • Good communications skills

  • Strong math skills

  • Oxygen-acetylene cutting equipment skills

  • Carbon air-arc gouging equipment

  • Comfortable using computers and learning new technology

  • Ability to efficiently read a tape measure and other inspection tools

  • Confidence and patience while coaching new employees

Certificates, licenses, training, or other job-related requirements

  • No current restrictions prohibiting regular lifting of 50 lbs
  • Pass practical welding tests as part of the pre-employment process

  • Purchase of tooling as deemed necessary by supervisor
