Job Summary

This role participates in a planned research projects by performing research protocols and experimental procedures independently while providing technical training to subordinates.


We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, curious, organized individual to join our growing proteomics mass spectrometry core facility. Someone who will thrive in a fast-paced, challenging research environment, and can interact well with others as part of a cohesive team.


This individual will be an important member of our mass spectrometry based proteomics research core team.


We are an interactive and highly collaborative core specializing in bottoms up mass spectrometry based proteomics.  This individual must have the ability to work independently yet be very team-oriented, capable of building positive relationships with peers, clients and partners outside of function.


Must possess a strong work ethic and self-motivation, with the goal of generating, processing and returning data to collaborators in an academic core facility.

Job Responsibilities (Continued)
  • Independently performs advanced, complex research procedures on experimental samples
  • Formulates and performs complex lab experiments and analyzes reports the data including interpretation of methodologies
  • Performs advanced calculations and maintains appropriate log and lab notebooks
  • Plans and modifies research protocols and procedures with minimal direction from the principal investigator or supervisor
  • Assists in development & troubleshooting of new techniques and ideas
  • Prepares laboratory reagents, monitors and maintains laboratory inventory
  • Supervises, trains and mentors junior and new staff members
  • Determines work assignments, schedules and laboratory priorities
  • Presents & discusses work at weekly lab meetings and national symposia
  • Assists in writing of grants, journal articles, poster and oral presentations

  • Three (3) years of laboratory experience
  • Previous supervisory experience.
Additional Technical Requirements
