About the role:

Lead the packaging engineering design, development and validation efforts on key domestic and internationally focused project initiatives.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Lead Packaging Core Teams, consisting of representation from packaging, distribution, operations, test methods, labeling, and graphics.
  • Provide Packaging Engineering support for R&D projects related to medical devices.
  • Generate and manage the generation of packaging related documentation including specifications, test plans and reports, and other BSC Product Development Process documents.
  • Manage the completion of packaging testing for new product development and existing design improvements.
  • Work closely with other members of the Packaging Engineering department, and interact with personnel from a variety of areas within the company.
  • Developing strong team skills, including optimized communication, teamwork, initiative, and managed execution of project deliverables.
  • Work with other divisions to ensure a consistent approach to packaging and labeling.
  • Work with BSC suppliers to establish partnerships to maximize quality, delivery, and lead times, and to incorporate their abilities, ideas, and material knowledge into new development.
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and advances in the medical device packaging industry.
  • Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. federal/country and regulatory requirements)
  • Fostering a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives

 

 What we’re looking for:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must be computer literate. Proficient use in current versions of MS Excel, MS Project, MS Word, and familiarity with product data management software preferred. 
  • 5+ years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Strong organization, communication and influencing skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to confidently handle full responsibility for packaging to completion
  • Results-oriented and focused on delivering timely, accurate and premium execution
  • Experience in juggling multiple significant projects and/or initiatives

 Preferred Qualifications

  • BS Degree, Packaging Engineering
  • Background in medical device development and validation of packaging in a FDA regulated industry
  • Knowledge of DHF, DMR and Engineering Change processes
  • Experience in bringing creative package designs from concept through commercialization.
  • Knowledge related to paperboard, corrugated, flexible packaging films, Tyvek, thermoformed trays, injection molded parts, and packaging equipment. Familiarity with ASTM and ISTA package testing requirements.
  • Familiarity with the medical device industry, FDA regulations, ISO 11607, quality systems and sterilization preferred.
  • Experience communicating and influencing all levels of the organization
