Product Support Engineer, Thermal Systems

Overview

 

Triumph Engine Control Systems is a leading independent OEM aerospace systems supplier for the commercial, military, helicopter and business jet markets. Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph employs approximately 550 employees. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering pumps/controls, and vapor cycle cooling systems for both the OE and aftermarket/spares markets.

 

The Product Support Engineer, Thermal Systems will work in a project team environment providing engineering support primarily for vapor cycle systems, but will also support fuel pumps/controls and air turbine products.

Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate specific aircraft program technical support activities including resolution of technical problems with in-service thermal systems and fuel pump/control products. 
  • Represent Triumph technically at airline, engine, and aircraft OEM customers.
  • Troubleshoot field return units and conduct root cause investigations. 
  • Coordinate the resolution of in-service product problems through concept, design and validation with response to customer inquiries for assigned program(s) in a timely manner. 
  • Coordinate development of Component Maintenance Manuals, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, and Product Deviations Authorizations. 
  • Maintain field reliability data for specific products. 
  • Prepare and conduct product maintenance and overhaul training. 
  • Provide Manufacturing and Service Center support on technical issues, including disposition of discrepant material. 
  • Actively participate in new program design/development activities. 
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives and events.  
Qualifications

 

  • A minimum of BSME, or equivalent technical degree is required.
  • 3 to 5 years of work experience in a design, manufacturing, test, or product support role for complex mechanical equipment - aerospace, vapor cycle systems, or fluid handling applications is a plus.  Recent college graduates may be considered provided they have some mechanical design experience including technical and test experience in vapor cycle systems, turbomachinery, or fluid handling equipment.
  • Experience in Control System Design is a plus.
  • Must have excellent communication skills with a strong background of technical writing experience.
  • Previous experience with aerospace design/test standards such as IPC J-STD-001 and DO-160 is preferred.
  • Familiarity with 6-Sigma tools and methodologies and hands-on testing is desired.
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting or fault isolation skillset, particularly with vapor cycle system components and/or fluid handling equipment.
  • Physics of failure modes with vapor cycle and/or fluid system components designed for high reliability and use in harsh aerospace environmental conditions.
  • Travel: Ability and willingness to travel occasionally.
