Test Development Engineer


Role Summary:

This position will define production test strategies, create test system requirements and design plans, and implement production test systems. This position will also provide technical leadership around functional test process and related software. Grade level and compensation will be commensurate with practical experience and education.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and document production test strategies for defect detection, manufacturing process flow/logistics, and cost

• Develop and document test requirements for production testing

• Develop and document project design plans for equipment solutions that meet design and manufacturing requirements

• Develop and execute verification plans and acceptance test procedures

• Design and integrate higher complexity electrical and/or software solutions for project requirements

• Specify and procure electrical and/or mechanical hardware needed to satisfy project requirements

• Clearly document work per established procedures

• Develop engineering processes/tools, provide implementation and training leadership

• Provide technical leadership on projects involving multiple engineers and technicians, including overall design approach and schedule

• Support the sales process by providing technical expertise in customer meetings

• Collaborate with customers as needed to accomplish company and customer goals

• Collaborate effectively with internal and external project team members and disciplines

. Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering / Computer Engineering, or similar

• 3+ years of related experience developing production test solutions for electronic products

• Advanced technical skills including circuit analysis, system engineering, test software coding, and technical writing

• Advanced knowledge of electronic test instrumentation, signal generators and analyzers, oscilloscopes, digitizers/data acquisition, spectrum analyzers, switching, frequency counters, and power meters

• Advanced understanding of analog and digital measurement techniques and design margin principals

• Advanced test software development skills with LabVIEW, TestStand, LabWindows/CVI, C, C++, VB, or other languages

• Intermediate to advanced understanding of manufacturing processes

• Experience in performing Verification and Validation

• Intermediate to advanced understanding of statistical data analysis

• Advanced hands-on problem solving, troubleshooting, and system integration skills

• Experience working in teams including engineers from various engineering disciplines

• Able to work on multiple projects

• Advanced communication skills including the ability to write technical specifications and design documentation and the ability to present technical information to an audience

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced test software development skills with LabVIEW, TestStand, LabWindows/CVI, C, C++, VB, or other languages

• Knowledge of serial communication protocols and hardware including CAN, SPI, I2C, HDMI, Ethernet, and USB

• Experience developing test solutions for wireless technologies such as 802.11, ZigBee, 900MHz, Bluetooth, GPS, and cell technologies

• Intermediate to advanced schematic capture skills

• Intermediate to advanced understanding of statistical data analysis

• Experience working in a fast-paced service-oriented engineering environment

• Experience with regulated markets such as medical and aerospace

• Experience with In-circuit testing
