RD Project Manager

Primary Purpose

As the R&D Project Manager for the North American team, incumbent will be responsible for managing various R&PD projects as well as delivery of new product innovation (NPI).  This role will lead project teams through efficient project definition, successful project planning, project tracking and execution to fulfill the overall project targets and on time delivery of the project. 

The successful candidate will actively support status of all project targets, manage project risk during execution of all project stages and report progress to senior management.  In addition, the ability to be able to work in a matrix environment and understand what is required to successfully drive a project to completion is a must.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Project Management certification (such as PMO, PMP, PfMP) required
  • Experience in managing projects that deliver new product innovations into the market, pilot plant startups, or new manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards, practices and regulations
  • Strong understanding of innovation and product development within a building materials product manufacturer
  • A proven track record in delivering complex projects on time and within budget
  • Strong critical thinking, logic and top down thinking capability with proven ability to successfully solve complex business and technical problems
  • Ability to perform effectively in an ambiguous or loosely structured environment
  • Ability to grasp concepts and ideas quickly, prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, challenging and agile environment
  • Quantitative mindset with strong attention to detail, organized, structured in approach and mindset.
  • Passionate about enabling people, technologies and process
  • Self-motivated, self-starter who can hit the ground running with minimal supervision
  • Able to lead through engaging, motivating and influencing your peers & stakeholders
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills


Education/Experience (Required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering/Science field (Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or I.E.)
  • Project Management experience-5+ years  
  • Have 5+ years experience in strategy, ideally within an R&D environment or related function. (preferred)
