The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.

Working Hours: Monday - Friday; 6am - 2:30pm


Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates and measures incoming materials to drawing specifications using the most appropriate methods and equipment available and reports out results.
  • Creates CMM or Vision system programs to measure dimensional parameters of components.
  • Collaborates with engineers to ensure appropriate incoming inspection processes are in place and to improve documentation of component drawings and inspection procedures.
  • Performs transactions in the numerous quality systems that are related to inspection and managing non-conforming product.
  • Interacts with Planning, Purchasing, and Production to understand priorities and to keep product flowing through inspection.
  • Works with peers and supervisor to continuously drive improvements to inspection processes that result in ever increasing effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Evaluates and sorts quarantined components identified to be suspect.


  • AAS/BS in Mech Eng Technology or equivalent



  • Standard PPE will be provided


Nice to haves include:

  • Programming experience across multiple platforms of CMMs or Vision systems
  • Experience using SPC or other statistical tools to evaluate data
  •  Experience evaluating cosmetics of mechanical components
  • Minimum 5 years of experience

Must Haves:

  • Strong GD+T understanding
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with others in a positive manner
  • Programming experience with CMM or Vision systems
  • Detail oriented self-starter who enjoys working with team members to achieve team objectives
  • Willing to work overtime as needed
  • High School Diploma or GED is required
