IBN-5G Digital Program Software Intern

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.


Purpose of Position:

Since digital wireless is a new technology to Corning, we are developing this capability from the ground up. We need to bring in an intern who is familiar with advanced wireless platforms, and the software tools that are part of such platforms. This intern position will help to establish key capabilities for the IBN-5G digital program.


Major Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop the digital wireless product group [BWS, DAS-RU, DCM, DMRU] test & measurement platform.
  • Qualify and evaluate the test systems for manufacturing deployment readiness.


Travel and location of work:

  • No travel required.
  • Role based out of the Corning, Keller, TX, or the Milpitas, CA facility.


Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Enrolled in BSEE, or BSCS program, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in computer programming, LabVIEW, and scripting languages.
  • Experience with programming through APIs a plus.
  • Relevant project or industry experience a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information.
