Workforce Development Consultant

Supports the alignment of workforce development objectives in designated regions and serves as a subject~matter~expert and consultant to management on workforce development practices. Creates alignment between employment needs and the skill and preparation of the workforce needed to further the mission of Advocate Aurora Health. Creates healthcare employment opportunities for unemployed and under~employed members of the communities as well as incumbent workforce training. Serves as a liaison between Advocate Aurora Health and community based organizations, community colleges, workforce investment boards, K~12 schools and strategic partners.  Beginning in June 2021, as a liaison, local travel will be required throughout the City of Chicago and metropolitan area for approximately 25% of time.


  • Provides site~based program administration workforce development programming, including external pipelining, and incumbent workforce training.
  • Manages external relationships within assigned PSA including but, not limited to community~based organizations, community colleges, K~12 schools and strategic partners.
  • Responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating activities related to clinical rotations, internships, and job shadowing including post program interview/placement coordination at site(s) of care.
  • Builds and maintains strong, productive relationships with key constituencies within Advocate Aurora Health to play an active role in connecting job seekers to training opportunities aligned with current roles within the Advocate Aurora Health system.
  • Facilitates the statistical analysis and data management for the workforce programs related to community~ based organizations and community college partners. This includes managing data and outputs/outcomes by assigned partners who are AWI grant recipients.
  • Collaborates with system leadership in the implementation of the Advocate Aurora Health Internship program, including college and HS programs.
  • Assists in the compilation, organization or reporting of State or Federal metrics


Position Requirements:

  • Education Required: Bachelors degree
  • Experience Required: 3 years experience coordinating community or corporate training program, along with success in Workforce Development, Human Resources, public/private entities, school and/or churches
  • Prior experience working with the youth population, disabled or other high~barrier employment populations preferred.
  • Prior knowledge or experience working with internship, apprenticeship or other student learning activities programs preferred.
  • Prior experience working with Affirmative Action regulations including compiling or reporting data is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating community and/or corporate training programs for frontline team members.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Creative ability to engage high~barrier populations in workforce related training, including the capacity to navigate community resources.
  • Ability work independently, problem solve and make well~informed make decisions.
  • High level of proficiency and literacy in using the Microsoft Office Suite, similar products and other technology solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively in diverse communities and work groups.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
