Manufacturing Engineering Technician II

Primary function is to evaluate, develop and document manufacturing processes to provide greater productivity and efficiency. 



  • Actively seek out high waste activities and drive efforts to reduce waste in the machine shop
  • Develop new and improve existing processes using set up sheets, offset sheets, work instructions, and tooling and gaging selection based on machine capability; audit for conformance to established processes
  • Establish and communicate production targets, standard works, process flows, and staffing requirements; acquire buy-in from production
  • Identify and address process-related gaps in assigned cell output and quality
  • CNC Programming - develop and revise CNC Part Programs using ESPRIT to increase efficiency and / or reliability of machining process
  • Create fixture drawings using SolidEdge
  • Utilize statistical data and trends to identify and drive improvements to manufacturing processes
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and prevent issues in machining and manual processes (wash, assy, etc.)
  • Self-Direct and lead small groups of production / technical employees in continuous improvement projects; Contribute to team environments for Kaizen events, 5S+1, Process Flow, Cost Improvements, etc.
  • Self-Direct and lead employee teams in use of problem solving tools eliminate/control root cause and mitigate risk
  • Assist in development of manufacturing plans for new product designs; provide input to manufacturability reviews
  • Assist in machine selection and runoff
  • Integrate new machines / product lines into the shop, meeting expectations for Documentation, 5S / Lean, Accountability, and Buy-in as outlined in the Manufacturing Engineering Cell Checklist.
  • Perform general duties as assigned and assist in other areas as workload requires
  • Associate’s degree in technical field or 5+ years equivalent experience
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing. Transfer of details and important instructions are key to this position
  • Problem Solving – requires strong programming, process, and mechanical problem solving skills
  • Ability to read blueprints and properly inspect part using hand gaging
  • Self-starter, motivated and resourceful

  • Advanced math skills including ability calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, volume, circumference and rate; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles

  • Experience with Fanuc and / or Mitsubishi controls
  • Experience with Swiss Turn Lathes
  • Experience programming with ESPRIT, knowledge of G-Code.
