Systems Software Engineer

Join the Micron Technology team at our engineering design center in Austin, Texas. We are driving the evolution of storage software, operating systems, and applications to deliver on the full potential of SSDs and persistent memory technologies. See our open source Heterogeneous Memory Storage Engine (LINK to for an example of the exciting projects we are developing.

We are looking for a Linux systems software engineer to join our team. Opportunities exist for a recent graduate with relevant internship experience.

  • Design, prototype and develop Linux-based systems software for SSDs and persistent memory
  • Develop automation frameworks and performance analysis tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams developing SSDs and persistent memory products
  • Participate in the open source community
  • BS or MS in Computer Science
  • Experience with C/C++ and Python with a solid foundation in object-oriented programming
  • Familiarity with Java, C#, Go, or Rust is a strong plus
  • Experience with Linux software development and basic Linux systems administration
  • Good performance analysis skills with knowledge of tools such as LTTng, eBPF, and VTune
  • Strong background in multithreaded concurrency control, lockless synchronization (e.g., RCU), and transaction processing concepts and techniques
  • Experience with databases (e.g., MySQL or MongoDB), key-value stores (e.g., RocksDB), or real-time data pipeline apps (e.g., Apache Kafka and Druid) a strong plus
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Jupyter or Pandas
  • Strong communication and writing skills
