Corporate Sanitation Program Manager

Summary

Develop, implement, and continuously improve upon sanitation programs, policies, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for all company facilities.

Position requires demonstration of competency for all on-the-job activities that may  have a direct or indirect effect on product safety, legality and/or quality.
 

Job Responsibilities

•    Accountable for holistic sanitation program direction and results for all Flowers Food plants, and warehouses.
•    Responsible for ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
•    Adhere to and administer company policies and procedures.
•    Ensure compliance with all food safety policies and procedures.
•    Assist the plants and 3rd party sanitation vendors in ensuring the plants are in proper sanitary condition at all times- - including allergen control and pest control.
•    Evaluate facility sanitary conditions visually and analytically, assesses risk based on food safety and public health principles and prioritize corrective actions.
•    Work closely with plant engineering and maintenance teams to identify capital expense needs and ensure appropriate preventative maintenance programs are utilized to reduce sanitation related food safety incidents.
•    Set the direction for ongoing sanitation verification activities and validation testing.
•    Act as sanitation lead in the process of assessing and mitigating food safety risks associated with construction and major maintenance.
•    Ensure plants have adequate SSOP’s for all plant equipment, driving towards reduced water and air usage.
•    Audit plants against the consistent application and execution of SSOP’s and all related sanitation practices.
•    Monitor the results of monthly environmental testing and assist the plants in developing appropriate corrective actions.
•    Engage industry experts, and chemical / equipment suppliers to troubleshoot any sanitation challenges and identify novel technologies and methodologies that improve sanitation effectiveness.
•    Develop and implement sanitation related training for sanitation and plant employees as needed.
•    Ensure all safety requirements related to sanitation are met in all plants, i including proper chemical storage, MSDS, PPE’s and procedures.
•    Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Sarbanes Oxley, Safety, etc.).
•    Perform other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, and other applicable operating rules, policies, and procedures.
 

Desired Experience

A minimum of 5 (bachelors’ degree) to 7 years’ experience (MS degree) in food safe- ty/sanitation, including:
o    Experience successfully addressing environmental sanitation challenges in areas such as drains, floors, walls, roofs, and equipment;
o    Experience with diverse sanitizing applications;
o    Experience working in both COP and CIP operations; and
o    Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience
 

The Corporate Sanitation Program Manager should have in - depth knowledge of the following:

o    Understanding and application of basic microbiological principles;
o    HAACP and Sanitation principles;
o    Appropriate wet-cleaning and dry-cleaning methodology in- cluding the ability to identify the appropriate cleaning method with the ability to synthesize knowledge to evaluate situa- tions and make effective recommendations based on scien- tific principles;
o    Diverse sanitation principles;
o    Principles behind verification and validation methods with experience in their application;
o    Food laws and U.S. standards and regulations; and
o    COP and CIP operations.
 

Desired Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plant quality/food safety/sanitation and required years of experience; OR
MS degree in food science or equivalent and required years of experience.
