About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical R&D Engineer supporting Microwave and Cryo Tissue ablation projects and acoustic pulse thrombolysis consoles and technology  This role will utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver life-changing medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSC’s mission.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Provide sustaining engineering support for existing consoles including: Working alongside suppliers and other R&D engineers to identify, evaluate and test replacement parts for components that are obsolete, helping find root cause of nonconformities during production, and troubleshooting field issues.
  • Successfully complete engineering work in one or more of the following: product design and development, test method development, specification development, bench & verification testing.
  • Write and debug FPGA code for implementation in consoles.
  • Provide clear communication to stakeholders for technical updates
  • Works cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, marketing and external partners to ensure project success.
  • Plans, coordinates and performs electrical compliance testing including conformance to IEC 60601-1 safety, EMC, among others and stays informed about various standards and monitors for impacts to the product line.
  • Designs, develops, debugs, modifies, and tests electrical circuits and systems by using current tools, analysis techniques, and technologies.
  • Documents electrical development by writing documents, reports, memos, change requests. Methods used are determined by approved procedures and standards.
  • Tracks electrical development effort by creating and maintaining records in the approved tracking management tool.
  • Solves engineering problems by analyzing the situation and recommending corrective or alternative actions.
  • In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to all documented quality processes and procedures.

 

What we’re looking for:

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 0-2 year experience OR Master’s Degree.
  • Solid lab skills and experience with debugging, fixtures, test circuits or electronics systems.
  • Familiarity with programming of FPGA’s.
  • Basic Matlab, Python or other programming language experience
  • Flexibility to reconcile field facing issues based on business criticality (product, geography, travel, etc).
  • Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Proficiency in programming of FPGA’s.
  • Previous experience with a medical device company (internship, co-op, etc).
