    THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

    This position is for an Aircraft Engine Mechanic Leader, Position Description Number D1637000 located at the 116th MAI SQ, Robins AFB, GA.

    This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Air National Guard Membership.

    Area of Consideration: Opened to members of the Georgia Air National Guard currently an on-board Technicians.

    Responsibilities

    As an Aircraft Engine Mechanic Leader, WL-8602-10, you will:

    Provide direction to resolve problems on aircraft engines and propellers in a field level environment.

    Lead three or more engine mechanic subordinates in diagnosing malfunctions, troubleshooting, and evaluating propulsion performance tests to determine the disassembly necessary for repair or replacement of parts.

    Monitor work of assigned personnel, set the work pace, convey work assignments, and ensure that materials, tools, equipment, and stock are available.

    Coordinate and work with aircraft mechanics and specialist personnel performing journey level work.

    Ensure that assigned personnel are fully utilized and work is accomplished in accordance with established time frames and priorities.

    Check work in progress and/or upon completion for compliance with the supervisor's instructions, appropriate technical orders, etc.

    Serve as a technical advisor by answering questions regarding appropriate procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives.

    Ensure that all safety, housekeeping, security, and other environmental rules and procedures are followed in shop and the flight line.

    Advise the supervisor of overall work operations, status and progress of work, causes for delays, problems encountered, and individual performance (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees).

    Provide functional planning for the inspection docks.

    Recommend adjustments in work schedules to provide optimum utilization of personnel in support of functional requirements.

    Routinely works with and alongside journey-level counterparts.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED
    • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

    General Experience: Must have experience or training that has provided the candidate with sufficient knowledge to complete the work of this occupational series. Experience or training which demonstrates the candidates ability to lead other technicians engaged in the duties performed by this occupational series.

    Specialized Experience: Must have experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series. Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.

    • Ability to participate with superiors in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work.
