Surgical Clinical Reviewer-RN

Surgical Clinical Reviewer-Monday-Friday-Start times flexible between 8 an 9am , Full time, Located at Christ Medical Center

BSN, 4 years Surgical Nursing experience and Coding experience preferred.


Position Requirements:
BSN from an accredited school of nursing
Minimum four (4) years experience surgical nursing experience preferred
Knowledge of continuous quality improvement principles and processes preferred

Computer and Internet skills and experience required. Familiarity with MS Office products is essential
Database entry and/or management experience preferred
Statistical knowledge preferred
Quality improvement or patient safety knowledge and experience preferred
Clinical chart review and abstraction experience required
Good time management and organizational skills to prioritize and meet deadlines
Must be detailed oriented and committed to data accuracy
Current Illinois RN license

Innovative, self motivated and detailed oriented
Ability to travel for work related objectives
Ability to work at a computer station for up to 40 hours/week
Ability to communicate and interact with all members of the surgical team, administrative staff and patients/patient families in a professional and courteous manner

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

The Surgical Clinical reviewer RN is responsible for insuring the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation, including appropriate level of care for scheduled inpatient and outpatient procedures. To facilitate the modification of the clinical documentation through concurrent interaction with physicians and their office staff. Maintains reports identifying successes and opportunities for improvement in service line and physician education. Presents findings to the patient care team.

Medical record to ensure appropriateness of the procedure, medical necessity and completeness of documentation.
Liaison function with internal departments, physicians and their office staff to insure compliance with regulations and requirements affecting reimbursement to the hospital.
Performs analysis of data collected to identify improvement opportunities
Maintains integrity of data and measures outcomes for performance improvement
Responsible for development and professional growth and practice
