The Internal Audit Centre is an independent and objective assurance and consulting function established to add value to government operations.  We provide various consulting functions to evaluate and improve risk management, internal controls, and governance processes.

About Our Opportunity


In accordance with the standards established by the Institute of Internal Auditors, you are accountable for providing internal auditing services to government departments and associated agencies, boards and commissions, through analyses, appraisals and recommendations.  You perform research for audit planning, attend and document client meetings and prepare system and process documentation. In addition, you develop and perform audit testing procedures to evaluate processes and internal controls for efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with policies and procedures. You analyse, interpret, and present data using technology tools and techniques.  You also maintain records of results using audit software (TeamMate) and assist in the preparation of draft audit reports.


Furthermore, you develop recommendations around client department/organization internal controls and risk issues by identifying gaps, recommending risk mitigation strategies to help clients achieve their departmental goals/objectives efficiently.

About You


To be successful in this role, you have an undergraduate degree, preferably in a relevant discipline, such as, Accounting/Auditing, Statistics, Computer Science and/or Business Management. 


You must have strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), and discretion working with confidential information.  Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) are required.


Relevant previous experience and completion of one or more of the following will be considered an asset:


  • An audit designation (e.g. CIA, CFE, CISA);
  • A professional accounting designation recognized by CPA Canada; and/or
  • A relevant master’s degree.


Leadership competencies required at this level of work are: Analytical Thinking, Adaptability and, Flexibility, Attention to Detail, Outcome Focus, Effective Interactive Communication, Teamwork and Collaboration, and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.


We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade:  EC 07 

Salary Range:  $2,003.00 - $2,498.00 Bi-Weekly
