Accounts Receivable Supervisors are responsible for:

  • Supervisors with a Medical background strongly encouraged to apply!
  • Under limited supervision, supervises the accounts receivable staff engaged in generating bills, reviewing and posting cash and payments.
  • Verifying and correcting bills and accounts to enhance the billing of private insurance clients, quality assurance, accounts receivable and collections activities. 
  • Conducts accounts receivable month-end closing, and monitors area activities to ensure work is accurate and in accordance with regulatory standards and established policies and procedures.    
  • Monitors and analyzes the revenue cycle in order to identify and resolve problems affecting timely processing of insurance claims, and other billing and collections procedures. 
  • Documents trends and initiates corrective action to ensure maximum cash reimbursement, prompt payment for services rendered and uninterrupted cash flow. 
  • Participates in development of accounts receivable policies, procedures, and objectives to ensure compliance with organization standards and accepted accounts receivable principles; and administers same to ensure accurate and timely processing of bills and payments, and uninterrupted cash flow; and uphold Medicaid, and HIPAA compliance guidelines in relation to billing, collections, and protected health information. 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or Accounting, or an Associate’s degree
  • Three (3) year experience of accounts receivable experience, including at least one year of experience in a senior or lead / supervisory role
  • Working knowledge of accounts receivable to conduct detailed analyses of the outstanding receivable and billed claims
  • Basic knowledge of billing and collections for substance use disorder services. Understanding of commercial, managed care, Medicaid, and state of Illinois SUPR billing regulations for substance use disorder services
  • Basic knowledge of some billing software
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Advanced analytical skills to review and audit bills and accounts, detect and resolve errors and problems, and prepare and administer area procedures
  • Strong organizational skills to to manage multiple assignments, and within the specified timeframes review data, gather information from the sites and respond appropriately to outstanding claims.
  • Strong communication skills to and oversee the work of others

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person or by telephone in order to gather and exchange information
