Test Technician III

This position will be focusing primarily on our Reserve Power applications, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.

 

Job Purpose

Performance of production and test activities according to EnerSys standards in the areas of: test set up, test monitoring, data acquisition, cell processing, and test harness assembly and maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs routine battery testing such as Lot Acceptance Test (LAT) in timely manner. Offsite testing for shock and vibration testing
  • Able to set the test up according to Engineering Requests (ER)
  • Verification and troubleshooting of current test setups
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, diagrams and test parameters
  • Able to analyze, interpret, evaluate test data and generate test report
  • Ensures that products and test equipment meet specifications
  • Recommends measures to improve quality of test methods and equipment performance
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the test department
Qualifications

 

 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Associates degree in electronics or electrical engineering preferred)
  • 3+ years related experience in battery/aerospace or technical field.
  • Previous experience with MACCOR testers, shock and vibration equipment is a plus
  • Must have an understanding of and be proficient in the use of general electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, dataloggers and multimeters
  • Able to setup and use temperature chambers
  • Surface mount and through-hole soldering skills
  • Must possess problem solving and effective communication skills
  • Must be willing to teach and mentor lower level technicians
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

 

 

 

General Job Requirements
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds/11.5 kilos on occasions.
  • This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.
  • Risk of electrical shock.
  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime.
