Cititec are working with a global commodities trading firm who are looking for a Trade Support Analyst to join their growing business focused on biofuels and physical oil products.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate P&L, VaR and risk reporting, while also supporting the development and improvement of the systems and processes used by the trading business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and analyse daily P&L reporting, investigating and explaining P&L movements and discrepancies.
  • Prepare and monitor VaR and wider market risk reporting across the trading portfolio.
  • Work closely with traders to understand positions, exposures, valuation movements and trading activity.
  • Support the Middle Office function across physical biofuels and oil products, as well as associated derivatives.
  • Monitor and validate trading positions, transactions, valuations and risk exposures.
  • Support options trading and derivatives reporting, including understanding of Greeks and associated exposures.
  • Work with Risk, Front Office, Operations, Finance and Technology teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Identify breaks, discrepancies and data issues and work through their resolution.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of risk management and trading systems.
  • Develop and automate reporting and processes where possible, improving efficiency and reducing manual intervention.
  • Contribute to the development of controls, processes and reporting frameworks as the trading business grows.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3-5 years' experience within a Middle Office, Risk, Product Control or similar function in a commodities trading business.
  • Strong understanding of physical commodity markets, ideally oil products, biofuels, refined products or related energy markets.
  • Experience working closely with Front Office / Traders in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Strong understanding of P&L reporting, VaR and market risk.
  • Good knowledge of derivatives and options, including an understanding of Greeks and options exposures.
  • Experience working with risk management systems, ETRMs or trading platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues and explain complex movements clearly.
  • A strong technical skillset, with proficiency in tools such as Excel, VBA, Python and/or SQL.
  • An interest in improving and automating existing processes rather than simply maintaining them.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work directly with traders and senior stakeholders.
