Description
You will be joining our expanding Buildings Technology Systems (BTS) team at WSP as a Smart Building & System Integration technical specialist. Your primary responsibilities include overseeing design, project management and delivery of projects from inception through to handover. You will take a key technical leadership role, leading concept through detailed design, managing technology design and systems integration activities, and collaborating with architects, engineers and specialist consultants.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate design and delivery of smart building integration projects.
- Develop, review and specify solution architectures that integrate building systems with enterprise IT infrastructure, ensuring interoperability, data exchange, cybersecurity and operational resilience.
- Engage with clients, stakeholders and vendors to develop and refine smart building solutions.
- Collaborate across multifunctional teams to create holistic smart building solutions.
- Produce detailed design and performance specifications, and review reports and designs to evaluate technical compliance.
- Provide clear technical leadership and mentorship to project teams and junior colleagues.
- Contribute to bids and proposals and support identification of new opportunities.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest and experience in emerging technologies in the built environment.
- Experience in smart building technology design and project delivery of medium to large building projects.
- Ability to develop detailed design and performance specifications and documentation for approval.
- Understanding of cybersecurity considerations for smart building implementations.
- Knowledge of smart building rating systems (e.g., SmartScore, WELL, LEED, NABERS, BREEAM).
- Experience with modern IoT, cloud platforms, enterprise systems and building automation.
- Strong communication skills for graphical and detailed technical presentations.
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK and the ability to achieve SC-level UK security clearance.
- CIBSE, IET, Engineering Council accreditation or experience that will lead to chartership is preferred.
Team & Projects
The UK Building Services Team delivers projects ranging from high‑rise towers, to data centres, to stadiums and healthcare facilities. Team members work closely with building owners, tenants and developers on complex projects across the UK.
