SQL Server DBA – 6 month contract (Inside IR35) - £500 per day (Umbrella)- Hybrid 3 days onsite Edinburgh City Centre
Meraki Talent have partnered with global Financial Services business in Edinburgh who are looking for a SQL Server DBA for an initial 6 month contract. You will focus on ensuring performance, availability and security of critical SQL Server environments whilst supporting ongoing operations, improvements, and project work.
They need a hands-on SQL DBA who can operate independently, deal with complex issues and work across cross functional teams.
This is a hybrid position, with the expectation being 3 days a week onsite in their Edinburgh City Centre office.
- Significant hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments
- Proven experience with performance tuning (indexes, execution plans, waits, IO, memory)
- Solid knowledge of HA/DR technologies (Always On AGs essential)
- Strong T‑SQL skills for diagnostics, automation, and troubleshooting
- Experience with backup and recovery strategies in large environments
- Understanding of Windows Server and storage concepts
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, delivery‑focused environment.
- Familiarity with Azure concepts.
- PowerShell / Terraform scripting for DBA automation
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g. Redgate, SolarWinds, Quest Spotlight)
- Experience working in regulated or security‑conscious environments
- Exposure to DevOps / CI‑CD database deployment practices.
- Experience of Fabric and Azure Data Factory
