Overview of Project/Role
We are seeking a proactive, technically skilled Business Intelligence (BI) specialist to join our PMO Systems Team. The role supports the development, maintenance, and optimisation of PMO systems, acting as a key interface between Specialist Information Managers, project delivery teams, and ensuring timely resolution of issues. You will also lead the creation, enhancement, and maintenance of BI reports and dashboards, collaborating with stakeholders to deliver actionable insights.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide expert support and development for specialist systems, enabling the Systems Manager to maximise system value.
- Design and govern Power BI solutions using Power Query, Power Automate, and Dataflows for enterprise‑grade analytics, automation, and integration.
- Facilitate project set‑up within PMO systems and ensure proper project close‑out, migrating information into business records and operational systems.
- Conduct data analytics tasks—data manipulation, transfer, and visualisation—using database query, scripting, and dashboard skills, delivering timely, accurate reporting to Information Managers and PMO Reporting Leads.
- Support the development and implementation of the PMO information strategy.
- Provide basic support for other PMO information systems (planning, business information and reporting tools).
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Strong influencing skills to manage and motivate teams across the directorate, embedding systems management methodology and process.
- Expert/developer level experience in relevant systems (essential).
- Essential coding experience in Power BI, SQL, and DAX.
- Expertise in Power BI Development & Administration, Power Query, Power Automate, Power BI Dataflows, Data Modelling & Reporting, Dashboard & Visualisation Development, Automated Data Pipelines, and Information Management and Reporting.
- Planning and implementation of technical changes; project planning and scheduling of work using Primavera, P6 or MS Project.
- Extensive knowledge of capital projects and programmes, Integrated PMO systems, ITIL processes, DAX, Power Query, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataflow, systems development approaches, and building Power BI reports.
- Experience within a PMO environment with strong technical capability, translating complex datasets into clear, concise information for diverse audiences.
- Collaborative team contributor able to work independently across multiple business areas.
- Proven ability to operate in an agile, fast‑paced environment, managing multiple concurrent projects and adapting to evolving priorities.
- Experience creating, adapting, and monitoring processes around Project Control and information management systems; implementing tools for change.
- Experience in project‑managing information technology/systems projects and managing IT vendors.
- Experience with APIs and data mapping.Stakeholder management in a complex matrix‑managed project environment.
