Advisory Consultant

Your role as a Consultant with Blunomy will see you contribute to the delivery of projects across a range of clients, sectors and energy topics. Your day‑to‑day will vary depending on the scope and requirements of individual projects.

Responsibilities

• Literature reviews and desktop research
• Quantitative and qualitative analysis
• Technology cost‑benefit analysis and feasibility studies
• Stakeholder engagement and workshop organisation
• Information synthesis, extracting key insights and developing recommendations
• Writing reports and developing summary presentations
• Attending and actively participating in client meetings related to projects you are working on
• Supporting the business development efforts of the company and writing proposals

Senior Consultant Duties

• Supervise consultants and support their skill development
• Lead tasks on complex projects
• Project manage simple engagements within your area of expertise and interest
• Lead and deliver corporate projects
• Identify business leads, structure, write and deliver proposals

Selected Projects

• National Bioenergy Roadmap – developed for ARENA a comprehensive roadmap with multiple stakeholders to characterise how bioenergy might play a role in Australia’s energy transition, including short‑ and medium‑term actions.
• Microgrids go‑to‑market strategy – supported a new venture company between an international technology supplier and a global investment fund to identify attractive countries in South‑East Asia for C&I microgrid activities, compile acquisition opportunities and design a go‑to‑market strategy.
• Non‑network solutions evaluation tool – developed a benefits framework to evaluate ‘non‑network solutions’ against network augmentation projects for an electricity network and rank opportunities based on capital deferral potential.
• Australian Decentralised Energy Resources (DER) go‑to‑market strategy – characterised the Australian DER market and future evolution, identifying opportunities for new positioning in Australia’s distributed smart grid.
• Due diligence of BESS portfolio – supported an investment fund in due diligence for the acquisition of a portfolio of large‑scale storage assets, assessing opportunities and risks.
• Biogas Vision New Zealand – developed a 2050 vision of the biogas/biomethane sector for a group of gas networks and biomethane developers, supporting their response to a public consultation.

About you

• You are passionate about the energy transition and climate change, with a strong interest in energy, environment and/or sustainable development.
• Familiarity with the Australian energy sector policy, regulation and commercial landscape is advantageous, but motivation and curiosity to learn are essential.
• 1‑3 years of professional experience in consulting or relevant industry.

Functional Skills

• Good verbal and written communication
• Critical thinking, comparative analysis and synthesis capabilities
• Respect of time constraints, intellectual rigor, curiosity, open‑mindedness, empathy and team spirit

Technical Skills

• Strong analytical skills
• Advanced competency in MS Excel and PowerPoint

Eligibility to Apply

• Either an Australian citizen/permanent resident or have ongoing working rights in Australia (mandatory)
• Fluency in English (mandatory)

Location

Ideally Melbourne, but we have an office in Sydney as well.

Salary

Consultant level, depending on experience, commencing at $80,000 + super + bonus.
