Claims Review Specialist

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Claims Trustee Review team at Mercer Super. This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney, or Adelaide and is a hybrid position requiring at least three days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Review claim case files and make decisions on insured benefits, deceased estate distributions and objections to deceased estate decisions.
  • Assess and, where appropriate, challenge insurer decisions relating to death, disability, illness and injury claims.
  • Represent Mercer Super in dealings with external stakeholders, including insurers, auditors, Risk and Compliance, Legal and AFCA.
  • Monitor trustee service level requirements and ensure compliance with the Mercer Delegations Approval Policy.
  • Manage case escalations, identify process or system issues, and support corrective action.
  • Contribute to projects and provide technical input to support the best financial interests of members.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in superannuation, financial services or life insurance claims management.
  • Experience making claims‑related decisions on behalf of a trustee or in a comparable governance environment.
  • Sound understanding of trustee responsibilities, superannuation regulation, claims management and relevant insurance legislation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment and excellent attention to detail.

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in a client servicing or consulting role.
  • RG 146 qualification or progress towards it.
