Oldcastle Building Envelope has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Manager to join the team at our Tuscaloosa, AL facility.  We are looking for a motivated, hands-on leader who wants the opportunity to make a positive impact on the operation and improve reliability throughout the plant. 

 

Prerequisites

 

  • Industrial Maintenance Background.
  • Supervisory experience necessary.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. 
  • Good understanding of electrical, pneumatics, plumbing and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to understand and work from mechanical and electrical prints and schematics.
  • Welding, torching and pipe fitting experience is necessary.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Supervise personnel and maintenance work flow.
  • Ensure that all personnel, prior to the start of shift, are wearing the correct safety equipment and that safety awareness is maintained throughout the shift.
  • Ensure that individuals are properly trained and their job functions are being performed correctly.
  • Confirm that employees have been instructed on the proper safety procedures.
  • Conduct meetings with mechanics before each shift to go over daily schedule and perform performance evaluations on maintenance mechanics weekly.
  • Report to Maintenance Manager any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions immediately to get scheduled for repair.
  • Complete verbal and written disciplinary warnings/counseling in accordance with the company’s policy and procedures.
  • Prioritize all work orders to meet due date deadlines.
  • Ensure all maintenance schedules are completed at the end of the shift and that company maintenance standards are met each day.
  • This position involves maintaining and repairing production equipment and plant facility.
  • Organize and maintain storeroom inventory.

 

Function

 

  • This position requires that objects such as motors, pumps, welding equipment, etc. be moved from one position/location to another in an effort to maintain production equipment throughout the plant.
  • Muscular and cardiovascular endurance are required, along with upper and lower body manipulation functions in order to perform functions required to maintain machinery such as bending, twisting, and reaching motions.
  • Tight gripping, cupping, clamping hand and wrist motions are required to support, carry, and maneuver up to 75 lbs. of objects to platform heights of 3 feet in a manner considered safe for self and others.
  • Position requires standing on a concrete floor, working under floor lighting, wearing steel-toed boots.
  • In addition, the employee must be able to hear commands in a noisy atmosphere.
  • The "team concept" instituted for shop floor production workers requires each worker to perform different functions on a rotation basis. Therefore, all functions are considered essential for the job. Mental endurance is required as some internal stress is created resulting from accelerated paced activities that are required in order to meet customer demands and promised delivery schedules.
