Bridge Design Engineer - Ft. Lauderdale Job

Our Fort Lauderdale, FL office is looking for a Structural Engineer responsible for engineering bridge design and inspection, plan preparation, and load rating analysis. The design tasks are completed using either the current AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications or AASHTO Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges.


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and Office Suite


    Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master degree in civil/structural engineering
  • EIT or EI license
  • Experience with Bentley MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
  • Experience in new bridge design, bridge rehabilitation, and/or inspection of bridges
  • Experience with common commercial structural software.


    General Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Bridge Design, contract plans preparation and specifications requiring quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets and schedules
  2. Developing design options
  3. Maintaining organized design calculation and project data
  4. Performing load ratings analysis
  5. Calculations of quantities and development of cost estimates
  6. The position may require the engineer to take part in bridge inspection assignments as an Inspection Team Member and prepare bridge inspection reports documenting inspection findings.
  7. Office support for construction design services
  8. Work with contractor or other consultant to develop demolition and erection plans, temporary sheeting, cofferdam designs, and temporary supports
  9. Review shop drawing submittals. Organize submittals and address questions from contractor during the construction phases of structures.
