Asst Purchasing Specialist - GROWMARK, Inc. - Bloomington, IL

Assists with the purchase of IT hardware, software, services and supplies, guided by established procurement policies and procedures, lending necessary assistance throughout the asset management lifecyle.




Reviews IT related requisitions for completeness.


Confirms proper authorizations have been granted.


Identifies and evaluates appropriate product sources.


Obtains pricing quotations , determines timeliness of order fulfillment, compares costs and recommends supplier. 


Submits customer orders with vendors or sends internal requisitions for processing of OMNI / SAP orders.


Compiles and maintains accurate records of quotes, invoices and purchase levels for different product areas. 


Aids in the preparation of monthly hardware, software and support billings. 


Responsible for the receipt of corporate  IT hardware and the tracking of remote order delivery.

Confirms vendor invoices are complete and ready for payment.


Monitors and communicates order updates throughout the  procurement process through utilization of automated ticketing system, assuring constant  transparency of delivery status with customer. 


Places approved customer orders for:


  • Desktop and Laptop Computers, Printers and Peripherals
  • Printer Accessories, Consumables and Support.
  • Server hardware, associated components, software and support.
  • Specialty technology equipment and services.


Assists internal/external customers in determining requirements for products and services, aided by established corporate standards and identifes vendors to meet those requirements.


Utilizes tools such as corporate asset management software, historical records and outside references to complete job responsibilities.


Addresses and helps  in the resolution of customer inquiries and complaints.  Contacts vendors regarding problems with or, questions relating to orders.  Advocates on behalf of the customer when confronted with vendor errors or, support issues to identify and implement the appropriate corrective action. 


Provides reporting to internal IT management related to budgetary spend and project completion.


Administers inventory of IT products in OMNI / SAP supply locations.  Utilizes OMNI / SAP reports to monitor inventory levels, place into-stock orders, and enter receipts and sales orders. Physically receive and ship in stock products.




Prepares monthly status reports, project summaries, and technical recommendations.


Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.


Performs all other duties as assigned.




Normally requires a two-year degree to demonstrate problem-solving skills plus one to three years previous experience in procurement and Information Technology.


Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and ongoing skill development.


Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.           

May need to travel independently and overnight for training, trade shows, customer meetings, etc.

A passport is desired/obtainable (travel to Canada). 

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
