This position requires a valid Class (E) driver's license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Driver's Record Requirements Policy.  An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following:


  1. three (3) or more moving violations in the past 3 years that accumulate 3 or more points per violation;
  2. any 2 convictions of reckless driving in the past 3 years;
  3. a suspension or revocation of the driver's license for moving violations in the past 3 years; and
  4. a suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction in the past 4 years


Your driving record will be reviewed and the status of your driver's license confirmed.


POSITION DESCRIPTION:  Provide technical and professional support for equipment, hardware, firmware and software applications used in the field and office components of the Department's Surveying and Mapping production environments.  Investigate, test, develop solutions for and report on application deficiencies and user process improvements.  Perform research and development of new technology, processes and applications under consideration for implementation.  Participate in Technical Advisory Committees (TACs).


Develop, document and implement policies, procedures, handbooks, guidelines and other steering mechanisms and documents in support of the mission and vision of the Surveying and Mapping Office.


Develop, document, implement and instruct training courses in support of the mission and vision of the Surveying and Mapping Office.  This includes training courses for policies, procedures, handbooks, guidelines, equipment and technical applications.


The incumbent will perform and review Surveying and Mapping work activities, and supervise others in their performance and review of Surveying and Mapping work activities.  Certify work processes and products to meet statutory and administrative code requirements for Surveying and Mapping.


Perform Quality Assurance Reviews (QAR's) of the District Surveying and Mapping offices to ensure quality performance and compliance with Department QAR requirements.


Perform evaluations of business entities seeking qualification to offer professional services for Surveying and Mapping to the Department (Consultant prequalification).


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Knowledge of Surveying and Mapping terminology, principles, practices, tools and techniques; Knowledge of Surveying and Mapping technology and applications; Knowledge of the Department's Policies, Procedures, Handbooks and Guidelines for Surveying and Mapping; Knowledge of the Department's Professional Services Vendor Qualification Process; Knowledge of the Department's Work Program process; Skill in use of surveying and mapping equipment, hardware, firmware and software; Skill in checking surveying and mapping work and data; Ability to identify and interpret end user problems and offer solutions; Ability to effectively document and communicate technical and professional issues; Ability to prepare and review Surveying and Mapping work products; Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments; Ability to train other personnel; Ability to lead and participate on teams.


REQUIRED LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:  Valid Florida Professional Surveyors and Mappers license (Chapter 472 F.S.).


OTHER JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS:  Valid State of Florida Driver License.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Registration as a Surveyor and Mapper in accordance with Florida Statute 472 and three years of post-licensure surveying experience.
