This position maintains day-to-day operations of the Pharmacology Laboratory’s in-vitro screening assays for the COBRE Phase III, Neuropharmacology Core. This includes maintaining laboratory Radiation Safety compliance, training, scheduling and supervising research assistants, ordering laboratory supplies, maintenance of laboratory equipment, management of all data collection procedures and data analyses primarily for receptor binding and activity assays, as well as neuroprotection and neurotoxicity assays. This position will work closely with the in vivo screening scientists within the Neuropharmacology Core and will assist them as needed.

Job Responsibilities

Coordinating and executing in-vitro screening of compounds derived from natural products in receptor binding, receptor function, neuroprotection, neurotoxicity, and neuronal growth assays. Performing cell culture. Developing of new in vitro assays. Assisting in the coordination and execution of animal studies, as needed. Performing assays in a rigorous and reproducible manner. Analyzing data with software programs such as GraphPad Prism. Recruiting clients and communicating the results of their studies. 

Minimum Education/Experience

Associate R&D Biologist: Bachelor’s degree. Candidates should have laboratory research experience in a related field (pharmacology, neuroscience, biology, biochemistry, etc.). Candidates applying for higher rank of R&D Biologist should have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years’ of laboratory research in a related field (pharmacology, neuroscience, biology, biochemistry, etc)
