Micron’s Scribe Design Group consists of a team of engineers who design Test Structure Devices which provide electrical and physical quality information to process development and manufacturing teams. As an intern in Micron’s Scribe Design team located in Boise, Idaho you will work with Technology Development electrical device, computer aided design, physical failure analysis (PFA) engineers, and fellow interns. This collaborative team working as a group will find product solutions from conceptual design to final electrical testing of semiconductor devices used to develop, improve, and monitor processes for Micron products. Micron Technology is a world leader in innovative memory solutions: DRAM, NAND, NOR, and 3D XPoint™ memory.


  • Developing and documenting new methods to optimize test structure designs to be recorded as Design-Of-Record.
  • Define Best Known Method based from your learning, and to detail the thought process and the supporting data.
  • Build a strategy finding exceptional ways to automate the collection of both physical and electrical verification data.
  • Improve visibility of electrical metrics and compare results to defined targets.
  • Pursue new ways to improve test structure design and verification methods.
  • Build automated scripts and/or programs to organize information into visual results that give insight to the status of Test Structures based on collected results.
  • Work with a hands-on and collaborative project to understand and optimize OPC, DFM, CMP effects on Test Structures and include findings in Design-Of-Record document.
  • Identify potential opportunities of improvement, including areas which can be challenging to achieve during the internship period.
  • Contribute in a multidisciplinary project of Micron’s Mask Technology, Yield Enhancement, and RDA groups.
  • Participate in technical meetings when needed and develop new opportunities or new approaches that Micron can use in the future.

Familiarity with basic semiconductor electrical fundamentals (through coursework or employment) is expected. We are looking for team members with good problem-solving skills who are highly motivated. You need a strong work ethic and the capability to work independently and in teams. Strong communication, computer skills, and presentation skills are advantageous.

We are seeking individuals with course work focusing on electrical engineering, statistical analysis, and device physics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering course(s)
  • Linux/Unix
  • Scripting languages (i.e. python, Perl, etc.)


Pursuing a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, or Doctorate in Engineering or Science. Must have continued coursework once internship is completed.
