 At WorkForce Software, you will work with a team of database administrators that support corporate offices and several 24x7x365 SaaS environments around the world.  You will be responsible for architecting a Postgres solution for Empcenter.  This will require someone who enjoys theoretical conjecture as well as getting their hands dirty implementing and testing solutions.  Other responsibilities will include guidance and day to day support of database servers running MS SQL Server on windows, Oracle on Linux, Postgres on Linux, and potentially other RDBMS technologies in the future.  Some evening and weekend work is required.  Some travel may be required 

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases are operational 24x7 in multiple SaaS environments.
  • Follow and improve documentation from other Database Administrators
  • Administration of Oracle 11g & 12c databases running on Linux servers and Microsoft SQL Server including, but not limited to backup & restore, database monitoring, database tuning, database cloning & replication, and database patching.
  • Ability to perform fundamental and essential Linux system administration tasks and Windows system administration tasks to support system operations and troubleshooting.
  • Work with various vendor technical support (Oracle and/or Microsoft Support) as required.
  • Periodically provide 24x7 on-call technical support for mission-critical applications.
  • Processing customer requests from ticket queues and completing scheduled tasks.
  • This position will be following 2nd or 3rd shift timing to provide coverage during off hours.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience as an ORACLE 11g/12c DBA, supporting OLTP systems in a Linux environment.
  • 1+ years of experience as a MS-SQL Server 2012 or above DBA.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team in an agile environment.
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment, working from varied company and remote locations.
  • Identify and resolve issues and perform maintenance as needed.
  • Demonstrate great analytic skill, able to independently troubleshoot application issues with vendors’ technical support.
  • Self-motivated to learn additional skillsets outside of DBA duties, supporting various applications as a team player.
  • Experience with remotely administrating DB servers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
