PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Responsible for the overall operation and performance of the Crop Nutrients Division.

 

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHP

 

Supervises, leads, and develops the Director, Crop Nutrients Supply and Merchandising; Director, Crop Nutrient Sales – Region I; Director, Crop Nutrient Sales – Region II; Agronomy Business Operations Manager; and the Crop Nutrients Operations Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Responsible for meeting sales, wholesale net income before corporate overhead, and return on investment targets for the Crop Nutrients Division.

 

Develops and implements business development strategies to increase market penetration in all target markets.  Provides leadership through collaboration efforts with Agronomy Marketing, Logistics, and other sales support teams in order to achieve a unified marketing thrust.

 

Ensures product forecasting, supply plans, product distribution, merchandising programs, support services, and customer service are all accomplished in a manner that optimizes sales, customer satisfaction and profitability. 

 

Oversees the management of GROWMARK’s ownership position of crop nutrients products, ensuring compliance with Board approved risk management policy.

 

Directs and implements plans to achieve target returns on terminal investments, leases and partnerships.  Oversees business development, terminal portfolio strategy, customer service, operating and administrative procedures, storage agreements, safety and environmental compliance, operating efficiency and capital improvements.

 

Directs crop nutrients business development initiatives, including organic growth, business acquisitions, partnering strategies, joint ventures, alliances, etc.

 

Develops annual and long-range crop nutrients marketing goals, annual operating and capital budgets, and strategic business plans.

 

Develops and maintains industry relationships.  Represents GROWMARK Agronomy at crop nutrients industry conventions and serves on association Boards and Committees, as assigned.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Normally requires a college degree in agronomy, ag economics, ag business, or other business-related field or equivalent, plus at least 9 years of related experience to demonstrate the ability to provide plant food leadership to the GROWMARK System.

 

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Advanced understanding and experience with plant food-related areas including product proficiency, price strategy, procurement, distribution, inventory control, risk management, marketing, negotiation, policies and procedures, and compliance along with strategic planning, program execution, budgeting and communications.

 

Proven supervisory and leadership skills including staffing, coaching, performance evaluation, etc. and the ability to achieve results through others.

 

Proven professional communication, interpersonal, persuasion, and customer service skills.

 

Demonstrated planning, organization, problem-solving, and project management skills.

 

Proven team building skills and the ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

 

Proven computer skills.

 

Must have the ability to travel independently and overnight.

 

A valid passport for out-of-the-country travel is required.

 

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
