Quality Control Supervisor - Branford, FL

Position Overview

Coordinates activities of the Quality Control Department with the primary objective of delivering a uniform product that is consistent with the MQOs (Material Quality Objectives) and expectations of our customers and the sales team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all employees are working and promoting safety at all times through daily, weekly and monthly safety communications, on the job coaching and by taking a leadership role in the plant safety program.
  • Evaluate the chemical and physical attributes of raw materials and properties of traditional and alternative fuels with potential to be used at the plant, providing feedback to Procurement and Production personnel if required.
  • Ensure the cement produced has been evaluated according to the appropriated AASHTO/ASTM standards or internal procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date the IMTE List (Instrument Measurement and Testing Equipment List or Equipment Calibration List) which contains the calibrations, standardization, checks and maintenance of the laboratory equipment according to AASHTO  R18, ASTM  C114 and ASTM C1222.
  • Ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures and regulations including housekeeping, behavioral expectations, safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Supervise quality control employees by directing, coaching, supporting and delegating as the situation requires.
  • Serve as a role model in the areas of leadership, teamwork, customer focus, safety environmental stewardship and community support to ensure alignment with the Company’s goals and objectives.
  • Helps to maintain and enhance the QMS (Quality Management System) to: Achieve or exceed our MQO’s (Material Quality Objectives). Satisfy our reporting requirements for all the governing regulatory bodies for our products with the objective of maintaining all appropriate certifications as required by those bodies. Satisfy the reporting required to attest to the quality of our products for use by sales or our customers.
  • To assist the Quality Control Manager as needed and/or directed. And act as the Quality Control Manager in his or her absence.
  • Provide direction and support to ensure compliance with ASTM and AASHTO Standards as with ISO Environmental, Quality, Safety and Energy Standards.
  • Maintain CCRL certification for testing and measurement of the final product to ensure accuracy of the results given to.
  • Help to build and maintain partnerships between plant departments and company peer groups. Help to build customer relationship, investigate product quality complaints and assist with the implementation of the recommend operation changes to produce the quality product as demanded by market conditions and sales personnel.
  • Help to monitor main quality KPI’s, help to identify the root causes of variances of the main KPI’s (for ex. clinker factor, LSF stdev, compression strength, etc.), using tools like microscopy, XRF analysis, etc, and implementing recommended corrective actions.



Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in engineering or chemistry, a Chemical Engineering, Chemistry is preferred and/or equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and abilities. A strong background in the cement manufacturing process is a plus



  • 2+  Years of Related Work Experience and/or training
  • Good supervisory, leadership and motivational skills



  • Familiarity with DOT regulations; must have strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to interpret an extensive amount of raw numerical data and abstract information into mathematical
  • Ability to motivate teams.
  • Good communication skills for use with co-workers, contractors, completing reports, etc.
  • Must be able to show and take initiative based on sound problem solving skills.
